Request a Free Wind Mitigation Inspection through My Safe Florida Home!

Protect Your Home. Lower Your Bills. Get Paid to Do It.

Florida homeowners who fortify their homes against hurricanes can access tens of thousands of dollars in combined financial benefits — through state grants, federal tax credits, insurance savings, and increased home value. These programs are designed to stack, meaning you can often combine all of them on the same project.

Start Here: Get a Free Wind Mitigation Inspection

Before spending a dollar, every Florida homeowner should request a free wind mitigation inspection through the My Safe Florida Home program at mysafeflhome.com. A state-licensed inspector evaluates your home at no cost and gives you a report you can use immediately — to capture insurance discounts right now, and to identify exactly which upgrades would qualify you for grant funding. There's no obligation to do any work.

New Roof - The Single Highest-Impact Upgrade for Insurance Savings.

A new code-compliant roof is evaluated across five separate categories on Florida's wind mitigation form, and each one that qualifies produces its own discount. Together, a full qualifying roof upgrade can reduce your annual homeowners insurance premium by 20–45% — an average savings of roughly $1,000 per year statewide.

Financial benefits available:

  • My Safe Florida Home Grant: The state pays $2 for every $1 you spend — up to $10,000 cash back. Low-income homeowners may qualify for the full $10,000 with no out-of-pocket match. Funding is first-come, first-served; grant approval must happen before work begins.
  • Insurance savings: 20–45% reduction on the wind portion of your premium, which typically represents 50–80% of your total homeowners insurance cost.
  • Insurability: Many carriers now require roofs to be under 15–25 years old to renew your policy. A new roof may be the most important step to keeping your coverage.
  • PACE financing: No upfront cost, no credit check. Repay through your property tax bill.

Impact Windows - Benefits across more categories than any other single upgrade.

Don't let pests take over your home. Our pest control experts are trained to identify and eliminateWhen all exterior openings are protected with impact-rated products, you unlock the Opening Protection discount on your wind mitigation form — one of the largest single credits available. • My Safe Florida Home Grant: Same 2:1 match, up to $10,000. Can be combined with the federal tax credit on the same project.

  • Home value: Fully hardened homes see a 7–10% increase in home value and sell up to 20% faster.

Impact Doors - The home improvement with the best return on investment at resale.

Impact-rated entry doors, sliding glass doors, French doors, and garage doors all contribute to the Opening Protection discount alongside impact windows. Garage doors have their own separate credit line on the wind mitigation form.

Financial benefits available:

  • Insurance savings: Same 15–45% reduction on wind premium when all openings are protected together.
  • My Safe Florida Home Grant: 2:1 state match, up to $10,000. Door-only projects often have lower total costs, meaning the grant can cover a larger share.
  • Federal Tax Credit (Section 25C): 30% of product cost, up to $500 for qualifying exterior doors. Must be completed by December 31, 2025.
